School Programs
The Riparian Preserve offers area schools access to a wide variety of environmental studies. Our unique setting allows students to participate in fun and educational experiences not possible in the classroom.
All activities at the Preserve are correlated to the current Arizona State Standards and are cross-curricular in their approach. Research shows that connecting children with their natural world improves academic learning, as well as providing benefits to emotional well-being. By offering outdoor programming for students, the Riparian Institute is supporting Arizona’s schools in developing environmentally literate citizens of our future.
Our urban nature preserve is located in Gilbert, just east of the intersection at Guadalupe and Greenfield roads, and in some cases is accessible by free city bus transport.
